Thank President Obama for protecting Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks

The Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks region rewards visitors with awe-inspiring vistas and cultural treasures unique to southern New Mexico. It also provides essential habitat for mule deer, native plants and migrating birds from across North America.

Protecting the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks region is supported by tribal and government leaders, ranchers, faith leaders, sportsmen, business owners and conservationists.  But in spite of broad local support for legislation and strong leadership on this effort provided by New Mexico Senators Martin Heinrich and Tom Udall, Congress has failed to take action to protect this landscape.

Now President Obama is using his authority under the Antiquities Act to finally give Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks the protection it deserves. Take a moment to thank him for his leadership.
